On November 11, 2021, the Chinese Black Friday will take place, also known as “Singles Day.” On that day, companies launch promotions with great discounts on the market.
To commemorate a special event, Alibaba announced that it would donate 100 million yuan in green vouchers. The company’s initiative seeks to encourage the purchase of products considered sustainable.
With the voucher, users can buy products with a sustainability seal. Not considering the big promotion in commerce, the Chinese e-commerce giant intends to make consumers aware of products that preserve the environment.
For the 13th year, there will be a significant discount day at Alibaba. In the 2021 edition, the sustainability theme will be the platform’s focus, considered one of the largest e-commerce in the world.
In total, Alibaba has 900 million consumers in China alone, and on November 11, almost 300,000 brands participated in the Chinese version of Black Friday.
That includes more than 14 million businesses integrated into Alibaba, which functions as a marketplace. Users will receive Green vouchers during the event on November 11, 2021.
With the coupons, Alibaba intends to give 100 million yuan, or around $ 156,000. According to Alibaba Group CMO Chris Tung, seeking to encourage ‘green shopping,’ the vouchers are to be used ‘for ‘buying decisions that are eco-friendly.’
