Green bonds move $1 trillion in 2021

Sustainable initiatives present themselves as a determining factor in the financial market. In the first nine months of 2021 alone, $775 billion in green bonds were created in the market.

This number represents an increase of almost 100% in just twelve months. In 2020, to give you an idea, the issuance of bonds considered sustainable was US$ 402 billion in the same period.

With $775 billion in green bonds, the sustainable financial market could reach $1 trillion in capitalization by 2021. Known as green, social, sustainability, and sustainability bonds, bond issuance (GSSS) has reached $217 billion between July and September 2021.

With a total volume of $217 billion recently, green bond issuance increased 25% in the year’s third quarter, compared to the same period in 2020.

But compared to the second quarter, green bond issuance has declined. According to Moody’s ESG Solutions report, between May and June 2021, $273 billion was traded on the market, compared to $217 billion.

“Global GSSS bond issuance totaled $217 billion in the third quarter of 2021, an increase of 25% from the third quarter of last year but a 21% decline from the $273 billion issued during the second quarter. this year.”
